Analogue 3D Nintendo 64 Console Delayed

Fans of retro gaming will have to wait a little longer for Analogue’s highly anticipated 4K Nintendo 64 console. The company has announced another delay for its Analogue 3D, pushing the release date to “by July 2025.” Originally slated for a 2024 launch, then delayed to Q1 2025, this marks the second postponement for the $249.99 console, which promises to deliver a modernized take on the classic N64 experience.

The Analogue 3D is designed to support 4K resolution output and Bluetooth controller connectivity while maintaining full compatibility with original N64 cartridges from any region. This is made possible through the use of FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) technology, which Analogue has successfully employed in its previous retro consoles for systems like the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy.

The delay comes at a challenging time for Analogue, as competitor ModRetro, led by CEO Palmer Luckey, has teased its own N64-inspired retro console. Luckey, known for founding Oculus VR, hinted at the upcoming release in a social media post, suggesting that it’s “never too late to change your mind” about pre-ordering the Analogue 3D. ModRetro’s first product, the Chromatic, has already garnered attention in the retro gaming community, adding pressure to Analogue’s timeline.

Despite the setback, Analogue is reassuring customers with its 100 percent refund policy for canceled pre-orders. In a statement, the company said, “We are working hard to get your 3D order in hands asap and appreciate your patience. If you have an open preorder, no action is needed.” Additionally, Analogue plans to email buyers a week before shipping to confirm their delivery addresses.

The Analogue 3D has generated significant excitement among retro gaming enthusiasts, who are eager to relive the N64 era with modern enhancements. However, the repeated delays and emerging competition highlight the challenges of delivering cutting-edge retro gaming hardware.

As the retro gaming market continues to grow, all eyes are on Analogue to see if it can meet its new July 2025 deadline and deliver a product that lives up to the hype.
